Follow the instructions in the prompt! Generally, it's as simple as clicking RSVP on the event page. Some events have a cost or prerequisite associated with them. For those events, join the waitlist, I'll contact you for details, and once those are ironed out, I'll move you to the attending list.
If an event allows guests, it will be stated in the prompt and you'll be given the option to add guests at the time of RSVP! One of my rules is that everyone coming along must be a registered member of the group! The age listed in the group description isn't a hard requirement; just the focus of the group. Have them sign up for Meetup.com, join the group, and RSVP!
Generally, backpacking trips, workshops, and any event with an incurred cost. The fees are intended to help offset the cost of any registration fees associated with the event, training, and certifications that pertain to the event, and any group equipment costs. The charge is also to encourage people who RSVP not to drop out.
This site is best viewed on a computer browser and not on mobile. I'm not a web developer, so I'm using a simple, free, website builder that doesn't translate well to mobile.
Meetup.com doesn't give a lot of flexibility for custom pages. This site gives me a way to convey more information than the Meetup platform would conveniently allow.
The main activities for this group are social gatherings and weekend hikes! I'm also considering adding weekends away where we meet in an area and spend 3 days exploring it.
I like backpacking. Generally, I try to go on one week-long trip annually or semi-annually. For those who don't know much about backpacking, I have a seminar that focuses on the things I've seen other, less experienced participants struggle with, and some stuff you probably didn't know you wanted to know!
For the safety of the group, I provide a general area that we will be meeting on the website prompt for people to estimate travel time, then message attendees with the location closer to the event. Be sure to enable notifications and check your messages before you leave!
It really depends! For social events pretty much whatever the weather dictates. If we're hiking, really all you need is a good pair of shoes you don't mind getting dirty (you need more clothing, just that your shoes should be good for hiking). For backpacking, I provide an example list for you to use as an example in creating your gear list. For other events, we'll figure it out!
